Worst. Blogger. Ever.

I apologize for being MIA. My laptop charger died and we can NOT seem to locate a replacement.

Trust me, I have SO much to ramble about from Chayce starting preschool, Jon's job transfer and us moving the vow renewal back a year due to us relocating this fall. Not to mention I'll be starting real estate school this winter. We're very busy, and I really am deprived not having a laptop. Bear with me and I hope to be up and running again in the upcoming weeks!

Nutmeg

Conversation with Chayce after I sprayed air freshener this morning.
***

HIM: "Mmmm.. Is that Cinnamon Mommy?"

ME: "No. It's Nutmeg. Smells good huh?"

HIM: "Ooohhh.. I LOVE nutbag!"

ME: "NutMEG, Chayce. It's nutMEG."

The Party & Gifts

The birthday party was fun! He had a great time with his friends and got some great gifts. We spent yesterday playing with a few of them.

Thanks to everyone who attended and for all of his great presents! Hope you had a great time, despite that bit of rain toward the end. LOL!

I'll share photos of the actual party on Facebook. Here's a FEW of the gifts he got though!

Crayola Roto Art: Very similar to Spin Art! (From Cameron)

Spiderman Rollerskates with knee & elbow pads (From my parents)

Vtech Kidzoom Camera:

This thing is AMAZING! 2mpx with video and 3 video games included on the screen. And a little photoshop type thing on there as well to add funny frames and animations to the photos. Very neat device, which he hasn't put down! (From Jon's parents)

"Thomas Busy Day" Train Set (From Leighton and Family)

Moon Sand (From Landen, Teagan and Hilten)

He also got a few Hot Wheels, assorted toy cars, water guns (which he asked for!), and trucks.

His big gift from Mommy & Daddy was....

His very 1st Bicycle!

He had a great time and is very thankful for all of the great friends he has that came and the birthday cards and gifts!

Chayce, we love you and hope you enjoyed your day!

Tomorrow's the Day

After all the preparations, and a bit of frustration as we couldn't get a bouncehouse for it... Chayce's 4th Birthday party is TOMORROW!

In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't get the bouncehouse, as there's a 50% chance of rain tomorrow.

Which in Florida terms means: It's gonna pour!

But the circus party is underway, and I'm excited to see how Chayce reacts.

ALSO, I got his bicycle today! Yep, his very FIRST bike. My Canon will get it's use tomorrow I'm sure.

Isn't it Amazing...

Isn't it amazing how people wake up, get ready, feed their kids breakfast, head to work, work their job, come home, eat dinner with their family and actually have the nerve to be UNGRATEFUL? They say they're "bored" with their lives or aren't "content".

Sure it sounds like an everyday routine. But think about it.

Think about how many people DON'T have homes.

Think about how many couples CAN'T have children.

Think about how many people who have lost their spouse (or they are deployed!).

Think about how many people can't afford to feed their family dinner.

My point? Be grateful for what you have. Because in an instant it can be taken away from you. So shut up your whining already!

Tomorrow's Youth Group Game

Tomorrow's Lesson is on: Patience

However, we couldn't find a good game/icebreaker about that topic so our game is TOTALLY random.

The teens will be split into 2 teams. Each teammate will take a turn coming up to the table. They will each have a little "pie". (Whipped cream in a pie pan) The goal is to dig the cherry out of the pie without using their hands.

The hard part? (Besides not using their hands...) There will be other things IN the pie. Things not as sweet. A pickle slice, an olive, a red grape to confuse them.

The first team to get all of their teammates through their pies and getting all of their cherries out is the winning team.

Oh the joy. Oh the anticipation. Oh the MESS! :)

Father's Day

Fathers Day, Happy Fathers Day, Animated Butterflies, Keefers Pictures, Images and Photos
Father's Day was nice for us. We went to church, then out to lunch at Olive Garden with Jon's parents and some friends from church. Because it was a holiday, of course the whole process of dining out took about 3 hours. So that consumed most of our afternoon.
Chayce and I made a homemade Cookie Cake for Jon on Saturday night for Father's Day. That's his absolute FAVORITE dessert ever, so that's what we made him. We ate that after we got home yesterday afternoon. Then, we made muffins together for Home Group last night, and spent the early evening with friends at church. Then later last night we saw my parents and gave my dad some homemade truffles and a handmade card.
I'm SO proud of Chayce for how well he's progressing with his handwriting. It's becoming very clear. Of course he has to imitate most letters. The only ones he can write without being prompted are the letters his his name: C, H, A, Y, E and also the letter O. But I'm amazed at how well he does with it.
Hope all the dads out there had a wonderful Father's Day!
Now it's back into Birthday Party mode at our house. Party in 5 DAYS!

Showing Gratitude

In the newest edition of Family Fun magazine, they showed how to make homemade chocolate truffles. YUM!

Tomorrow being the last day for Vacation Bible School AND Jon's day off, we will be making 3 different flavors of truffles (about 20 each. So 60 truffles!) and giving them to the VBS leaders from Chayce tomorrow night as a little "Thank You" to them. They all worked so hard (I'm one of them, so I know!), and should be given something to let them know they're appreciated.

So the flavors of chocolate truffles we'll be making are:

1. Mint-Chocolate
2. Coffee-Toffee
3. Chocolate-Cherry

Another HOT Day.

It's been miserably hot this month. Around 95 degrees everyday. I'm really dreading July and August. YIKES!

Last night Chayce went home with Grandpa after VBS so he hasn't been home all day. Leighton still came over so we (Jon and I) took her to the pool. She had fun! I don't mind the heat nearly as much as long as I'm somewhere close to the water (pool or beach).

Last night I bought some crazy bright eye shadows. The VBS theme is very celestial. "Outer Space" themed. I don't feel like dressing up like a martian or some other funky looking space person like most of the leaders are, so I just play up my makeup and do some super dramatic looks.
Monday I did teal and purple.
Last night I did teal and bright blue.
Tonight I'm doing Coral and yellow.
Tomorrow I may do Coral and Blue.
I bought a crazy 4-color thing of eyeshadow by covergirl called "Tropical Fusion".

NEVER thought I'd see the day I'd buy these colors. LOL but they look pretty neat at night time and fit the dramatic theme. They're fun to play with that's for sure! And I make sure to foil them so they're extra bright. If I was thinking I'd have taken pictures each night, but forgot. Oh well! ;)

A New Addition... ???

We *may* be adding a new addition to our household.

Introducing... Daisy!

She's a 5 year old purebread Yorkshire Terrier. Very tame, very shy, very mellow. Something I definitely need around here. She wasn't spayed, so the current owner had her spayed on Friday. It usually takes 2-3 weeks for recovery from that (then she has to have her stitches removed of course) and then we SHOULD be bringing her home! Unfortunately 3 weeks from last Friday falls exactly on Chayce's birthday, so I'm not sure what we'll be doing that day. But hey! It may make for a good extra birthday gift for him. I'm excited about Daisy. We MAY change her name. Not sure yet. I'll post updates as they fall into place.

The Proposal

This was a GREAT movie!

It premiers THIS Friday (June 19). We saw a sneak preview of it this past Saturday and I loved it! A very interesting plot to the movie. And some great stars in this!

Ryan Reynolds

Sandra Bullock

Betty White

I'd rank it 4.5 stars!

VBS: God Rocks!

Last night was NIGHT 1 of Vacation Bible School!
Chayce had fun last year, but I think he's doing better this year since he's older. It all makes more sense to him. The theme this year is just what you see. "God Rocks! Starlight Rescue" Everything is very celestial themed. We have black lights, glow in the dark stars, hanging solar systems, rocket ships, planets etc. etc. all throughout the church making for a very "out of this world" feeling.
I'm assisting in the Crafts. (Or "Crater Crafts" as they say) and the kids did very well last night. We ended up having about 30 children on night 1. Very exciting! We're hoping for more tonight.
God Rocks!

Thinking outside the box.

Only MY family could come up with this.
Everyone's come up with some good wedding gift ideas for Jon and I. But my uncle takes the cake by saying he's getting us...
A baby crib.
LOL! Wishful thinking? Not until 2010 or 2011! But atleast he thinks about the future.
Love it!

(By the way, make it a 4-in-1 cherry sleigh please! LMAO)

Our First Youth Group Lesson

Tomorrow night is our first night leading the youth group! We're really excited about it and today I did a rough layout of what we'll be chatting about. Here's what's in store for tomorrow night!

ICEBREAKER: "Truth, Truth, Lie"
The teens write down 2 truths and 1 lie on paper. Everyone else will vote which "fact" they think is actually a lie. Whoever has the fewest votes for their actual "lie" wins.

THE LESSON:
The 9th Commandment

I. Satan is the Father of Lies

A. Temptations to be sinful (T.V, music, peers)
B. Temptations for you to lie to the world (To fit in, to impress)
C. Temptations to turn away from God (To conform with the world)

II. God is THE TRUTH
A.
John 14:6 "I am the way, the TRUTH and the life."
B. When Jesus stood trial, just before His crucifixion, the Roman governor Pilate asked Christ if He were truly a king. Jesus responded by summarizing His mission and noting who would respond to His message: "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice" (John 18:37).
C. God understands our nature and reveals how to combat it. Jesus explained that, even though we may be willing to obey, our flesh is weak (Mark 14:38). We lack the resolve and strength to resist temptation. How, then, can we neutralize this weakness?

III. How to let your Yes be Yes.
A.
It is easy to stretch the truth and exaggerate, or try and validate your thoughts by lying.
EPH. 4:25
COL 3:9-11
B. Seek God for the truth. Everything in the life of a Christian is anchored to truth. God wants us, as His children, to commit ourselves to truth and reflect it in everything we do. That is why God commands us: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor" (Exodus 20:16).
C.We must ask for that help. And how can we get it? God's Word tells us: "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16).

An Insane Monday

Today has been one of the most stressful days of the year. I'm not going to elaborate. Just take it as it is.

I met one of the Caterers we're talking to about the wedding today. She was super sweet and gave me so many options. Not like I need them, I know what I want. But I'm very happy with what she quoted me and what she has to offer us!

Chayce and I battled the rain and did the grocery shopping in near record time.
shopping cart Pictures, Images and Photos
We were in and out in literally an HOUR! (Keep in mind we do 2 wks. of shopping at a time) So I was very proud of his good behavior and how quick we managed to do everything. (Tempting him with a lollipop the entire trip helped as well. But he did earn it today!)

I need a hot shower and a fluffy pillow now.

A Productive Day

Yesterday was a very productive day for Jon and myself. I'm excited to announce that right now we are the new Youth Leaders at our church!

God lead and guide us in the direction you see best.

The wedding invitations are in process right now as well! I'm actually having fun doing them, and VERY glad I opted to do them myself. Not only is the price probably 1/8th of what I'd pay for a company to do them, but I know they're coming out EXACTLY how I want. And being a perfectionist, I can happily say they will come out perfectly. Here's a photo of the beginning process. Black cardstock, the wording is on white cardstock which will be stuck with adhesive to the black cardstock. Once this is done I will tie in a piece of red satin ribbon right above the white cardstock. The invitations will be in red envelopes. The RSVP's have been drawn up and they will be printed in the next day or 2 as well. All the invitations and RSVP's should be made and sealed in the next 2 days!

I edited some information out of the invitations for privacy reasons. But here's your sneak peek.

Decisions, Decisions.

I can honestly say this is the first (and hopefully LAST) time I have to sit down and plan out a menu to feed 100 people.

I want to be careful and make sure everything is reasonable. Nothing too "different".

We're sticking with an Italian Theme for the reception food. So we're having it split into stations: Salad, Pasta, etc.

So today Jon and I are sitting down with a list of about 200+ total menu options from Hors D'oeuvres to desserts.

And yes, my mouth is WATERING.

Reese & the Tiara

Reese is 7 months old today! Happy Birthday Poodles!

***

On another note, I got the flower girl's tiara yesterday!
This is the only photo I can find online that comes close to what it looks like.
It's hearts with jewels in the center of each heart. This photo is
obviously quite exaggerated, LOL. But you get the idea.
The tiara will be presented to her at the Rehearsal Dinner October 1st!

Weekend Plans and Disappointments

The end of the week. AT LAST!
Tonight we have practice at church. Chayce will be spending the night with my parents, then tomorrow morning when I pick him up I'm taking him and my sister to the movies.
This weekend begins Week 1 of the Free Summer Movies at our local theatre and they're kicking off the summer with an old classic.
The Wizard of Oz!

Ruby Slippers Pictures, Images and Photos
Not only is it mine and my sister's FAVORITE movie of alltime, but Chayce has never seen it. So I think it'll be quite fun.
On another note, I think my husband will kill me today. I did another mock-up centerpiece and I think I like this one best of all, so all the dried branches we've had stored in our garage the past YEAR will NOT be put to use (only a small portion of them will). We will still use Crystal Trees for church decorations. But I'm pretty much sold on the most recent idea.
A bit disappointed today that the Magic lost to the Cavs last night. LAME. I was hoping it would be the end last night.
Pray for redemption at Game 6.
GO MAGIC!

Centerpieces: TAKE 2

Changes Made:

1. Added clear marbles/pebbles to vase.
2. Painted branches glossy silver
3. Added lights to the vase.
4. Sprinkled gems on table.
5. Eliminated candles for now. We MAY try and find yellow LED lights instead of the true white. Still debating.

RESULT:

Wedding favors & centerpieces

These favors were SO time consuming! I printed the monograms out yesterday and it took about an hour to print them and put them on the tins. (There's 90 favors) Then today I bought 90 yards of ribbon (YIKES) and tied ribbon around all of them! But I think it was worth the 5 hours of my time. I love them. They will be filled with black and white M&M's (We're buying them by the color... or wedding colors are black, white and red)

We did a mock-up of our centerpieces. I'm glad we did because I learned a lot doing it! Like:

1. I don't like the black branches. We'll be trying silver next to see how it looks.

2. I don't think i'll fill them with sand, but with glass rocks.

3. We may also put a small light in the bottom of each vase with the rocks, so the vases light up!

So the next mock up will be with the rocks, lights and silver branches. Photos will be posted of course! Jon handmade the crystal strings. I'm proud of him!

Bad Blogger = Busy Bee

I've been on the go, non-stop, since Thursday.

Chayce went to my in-laws for a few days so Jon and I took that opportunity to jump on the wedding planning some more. We picked our wedding bands, bought the favors, assembled them (halfway.... didn't put the candy in yet obviously. But got our monograms on them!), Jon tried on tuxes, we're still looking at Bridesmaids gowns (I know, this is my HARDEST decision to make, which is why I'm STILL not 100% decided) too, touched base with the hair and nail salons.... I bought the pen for the guestbook table, the table markers for the reception.

Next week we're booking the venue, DJ and paying the florist. Jon's buying my ring tomorrow and I'm getting him his for Father's Day.

Check. Check. And... Check!

Think that's busy? Try adding a 4 year old's birthday party to the mix! Yep! We got his invitations printed yesterday. Got them sealed up, address labels printed and ready to go today. Mailing them out Tuesday. Still doing the carnival themed party. So we stopped at a few places to price out bounce houses, popcorn machines and all that fun jazz.

Next Saturday we're going to HOPEFULLY make our final choices on the wedding party attire, then Sunday there's a Bridal Show here at the Crowne Plaza Oceanfront. So I will be going to that with one of my bridesmaids and maybe a few other friends that are part of the wedding (the flowergirl's mom and my coordinator).

I sprung out a change on Jon and told him I'm switching up our centerpieces... SLIGHTLY! Instead of doing the bare brances with hanging votives like this:

...I want to do Crystal Trees!

Everything is by candlelight. So... our crystal trees won't be in those tacky vases, ours will be in glass Eiffel Tower vases. Then on the table will be tons of tealight candles. I think the crystal trees would illuminate the light MUCH better and we'd get more lighting this way. So our tables will look like the top photo, but the trees will look like the bottom (just in prettier vases). The eiffel tower vases I want are I *think* 18 or 24 inches. So our centerpieces will be TALL!

Just a small change in plans that I think would be best for the lighting effects.

So it will be a tree like this:

In this vase:

FINGERS CROSSED!

Told you all we've been busy!

Lifetime: "Do You Know Me?"

Actress Rachelle LeFevre (most popular from the movie Twilight) starred in a Lifetime movie (it premiered Sunday night). I DVR'd it and just watched it last night....

BEST LIFETIME MOVIE I'VE SEEN!

The plot points were genius. It had a better storyline than most movies on the silver screen. It wasn't like any other made-for-TV-movie I've seen and I highly reccomend it.

Hey! Even my husband loved it. He was glued to it. So if you hear it advertised, be quick to DVR or watch it.

Our Luau...

hibiscus flowers Pictures, Images and Photos....was a total hit!hibiscus flowers Pictures, Images and Photos

We all had a blast. There was sooo much food too! It's funny, everyone at our church has boys. The boy to girl ratio is outrageous. No one has daughters! So everyone who came last night had a son (or more than 1!) with them. Which was nice because all the boys (and their dads) played ball outside for a bit while the moms got to enjoy each other's company.

Everything looked great. Everything WAS great. Lots of fun! Hope to do it again!

Rain, Rain, DON'T go away!

Rain, rain... Pictures, Images and Photos
We've been in drought all year. Seriously. All of 2009 has been unbelievably dry. Finally the past week we've seen a few showers and all day today it's rained.
Thank God for the much needed rain!!!

Out of Patience with Reese.

She's 6 months old now, and we've worked VERY hard with her. She's a good dog. She knows the commands: Sit, stay, heel and speak. She knows not to jump onto the furniture.

HOWEVER, once our doorbell rings and other people come to our home, all of the good behavior that's instilled in her goes out the window. She turns into a totally different dog.

She hops onto her back legs and starts scratching our friends' legs, she jumps on the couch, she starts shaking and jumping like she's never been pet a day in her life. WE've tried everything from ignoring her behavior, to holding her and not letting her down until she calms down (she'd calm down but as soon as we put her down she'd do it all over again), we even brought her kennel into the living room and we'd wait for her to calm down, THEN let her out (which AGAIN resulted in the same obnoxious behavior as soon as we let her out).

Last night our friends were over, and I held her until she was calm and when I put her down she jumped onto the couch and a friend of mine was eating... so dove right into the plate and the food went everywhere. I felt so embarrassed.

We don't know what else to do. We can't let her out when other people come over. And it's sad!

I seriously need help. I don't think obedience training would help Reese at all. And I'm not about to drop $100 on it for it not to work. Id' much rather teach her myself.

**UPDATE: Someone with a Yorkie gave me a GREAT helpful tip today, let's hope it works!**

So I know it's far away...

...but this Christmas I want to get Jon and I one of these....

Pearl Drumset Pictures, Images and Photos

We both play. I havent played in YEARS and recently inquired about getting lessons. But I figured today, why pay $20/hr. for lessons when I can invest in a set and teach myself again?!

And yes, I really LOVE the red set! :)

A Fabulous Friday

Today has been quite a great day, and it's only noon! I'm LOVING my new Espresso Machine and having an iced latte really jumpstarted my day today. And it's honestly nice to not have to go spend $4 everytime I want one....

I was SUPPOSED to send out Chayce's birthday party invitations today, but totally forgot about it until this morning. So I'll probably do that Monday. He's so excited about his carnival party. Between HIS party and our vow renewal I'm really fighing panic attacks, I swear! So much to do in so little time. YIKES!

Tomorrow we go to his Preschool to enroll him. (Last weekend was registeration for VPK; now that we've picked a school we have to enroll him specifically in that school).

Then Sunday is our Luau! I'm very excited to see how it turns out and see what yummy dishes everyone brings.

I wanted to share a quote I heard the other day with everyone. So think about it!
"Don't tell God how big your storm is,
tell the storm how big your God is."

Hi J05...

...Nice to know someone still likes to talk about me over there!
Or atleast post up my information.
Some things just never change.
Miss ya'll too!
Too bad I won't be as interesting to you as I was a year ago though ;)

Thankful Thursday

~THANKFUL THURSDAY~
1. My Mother's Day Gifts:
I got a brand new Espresso Machine which has really saved my sanity today.
And we got to enjoy the Tiki Bar and new outside arrangement last night with our dinner guests. LOVE it!
2. The RAIN!!!!
We finally got rain yesterday and today.
First time consistantly since probably December.
3. My Blender
I realized today I'd be so lost without my blender.
Next to the oven and microwave, it's by far the most used appliance I have.
Every single day I'm using it for something.
Marinara, Salsa, Dressings, drinks, etc.
4. God's Glorious Salvation
I think this is VERY self explainitory.
5. The Local Library
Chayce's new favorite place to go!

Pat on the Back...

....to myself for calling the Idol finale! :)

I do have to say that after they announced only 1 million (out of 88mil total!) votes seperated Kris and Adam, Kris now totally has the ability to win this. And really stands a good chance, because I'm sure most of the Danny fans will take Kris' side.

Would be quite a season if the underdog won! VERY curious to see this result. Probably will be one of the closest results in history (aside from season 2 with Clay and Ruben).

American Idol: Season 8 FINALE

american idol Pictures, Images and Photos

Ok, so I'm a HUGE Idol fan. Anyone who knows me knows this. And I'm very ashamed of myself right now for not blabbing on and on about it on my blog!

Anyways, wayyy earlier in the season when they first had the top 16 or whatever, I predicted Danny, Kris, Lil and Adam to be the top 4. And Adam and Danny to be in the finale.

HOWEVER, after the past 2 weeks, I'm going to eat my words.

Because Kris (Gotta love my fellow Arkansan!) has TOTALLY upped his game and shown the world how talented he is. Not only vocally but instrumentally. He's amazing.

I still think Adam is untouchable in this. I'd bet almost anything he WILL Win this, and nothing is making me think otherwise. BUT, as far as who I'd *like* to see in the finale..... KRIS AND ADAM. Will Kris actually beat out Danny for that spot? Only time will tell. Luckily, a SHORT time. Can't wait to see the results tomorrow! Fingers crossed. And done rambling.

MY Day of Awakening

The past 2 years in my life have been the hardest. By far. I've hit, what I believe to be, "rock bottom" in my life. More recently I've been so bitter and cold. And I'm strong enough to put it out there and admit it. I've been hurt by people close to me and have held grudges for years. Decades.

My good friend, Monie, reccomended a book for me. "A Divine Revelation of Hell"

a divine revelation of hell Pictures, Images and Photos

Sure, I know Jesus. I know God. I've spent the majority of my life in church and serving Him. But some of it was in vain. Some of it hypocritical. Not until last night when I read this wonderful book did I truly have the Fear of God instilled into my life. Not until a revelation of Hell and what is 1 of 2 possibilities for the afterlife was shown to me did I truly have a divine awakening in my spirit.

This morning I wake up refreshed.
Renewed.
Restored.

And if you're reading this, I can only hope the same for you. This is a short easy-read book. Middle school children can comprehend the writing style. Even if you're a strong Christian (I admit I'm a weaker one. I give into too much of the worldly things.... But this is CHANGING!), I suggest reading it.

I'm so thankful for my life today. And I am truly sad for those that don't know what's to come. And those that are living their lives focused on things of the earth, hatred, GOSSIP, bitterness, fortune, other gods/idols... May they have their eyes opened. Just as I have.

My wonderful Mother's Day gift(s)

Jon and Chayce got me the Tiki Bar I asked for. I love it even more NOW than when I saw it in the store. So it's on the back patio. We re-arranged the patio furniture to compliment the Tiki Bar. Chayce's seashell windchime goes perfectly by the tiki bar, and this morning I got some chinese paper lanters to string across the back patio. Here's some photos of my newly decorated back patio!
Here's a pic of the Tiki Bar I took yesterday (Sunday)...

And we just strung up the lanterns in the past hour, so here's the completed patio! :)

This will be perfect for the Luau next Sunday!!!

One of the hardest days of my life....

.......is today.
I'm about to go register Chayce for *gulp* .... Preschool!
I never thought it would be THIS hard. Not only for myself, but for Jon. I'm a stay-at-home-mom and even though PreK is only like 3 hours a day, it's going to be SO tough for me to face the facts that he's a big kid now and in school everyday. He's my only baby, and it's so hard to let go!
But now is the time. So here we go!

Seashell Windchimes

sea shell windchime Pictures, Images and Photos

This is what we're making today. Seashell Windchimes.
I put modge podge on a CD. Then sprinkled sand and small shells on it, and waiting for it to dry. I threaded some ribbon through the center of the CD. Then we'll thread shells through some thin fishing line, and hang them from the base. Voila!
These will be gifts for my mom, Jon's mom, Korin and Brigette. The kids will have a blast with this I'm sure! :)
